Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MalScan collects, uses, and protects information when you use our file scanning service.

Effective date: April 2, 2026 Service: MalScan

1. Who we are

MalScan is a web-based service that allows users to upload files for automated malware and suspicious-content analysis. Authentication is optional for some parts of the service.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide the service.

Uploaded files

When you use MalScan, you may upload files for analysis. These files are processed to determine whether they appear benign, suspicious, or malicious.

Account information

If you sign in, we may store basic account-related information such as your username, email address, or authentication provider data. Authentication is optional where supported.

Technical data

We may automatically collect limited technical data required for security, performance, and debugging, such as IP address, browser type, device type, access timestamps, and basic server logs.

3. How we use information

  • To scan uploaded files and generate analysis results.
  • To improve malware detection, system stability, and security.
  • To maintain scan history for signed-in users, where applicable.
  • To prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized use of the service.
  • To troubleshoot errors and monitor platform performance.

4. File processing

Uploaded files are processed by our analysis pipeline and machine learning systems to determine possible malicious behavior or indicators. We do not collect unnecessary personal profile data beyond what is needed to operate the service.

Users should upload only files they are authorized to submit. Do not upload sensitive, confidential, or personal files unless you fully understand and accept the risks of submitting them to a scanning platform.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data only when necessary:

  • with hosting, infrastructure, or security providers that support operation of the service;
  • when required by law, legal process, or government request;
  • to protect the rights, safety, and security of the service, users, or others.

6. Data retention

Uploaded files, scan results, and logs may be stored for a limited period as needed for service functionality, security review, abuse prevention, research, or debugging. We may delete data periodically or when it is no longer needed.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security, and file submission is done at your own risk.

8. Your choices

  • You may choose not to authenticate if optional access is available.
  • You may stop using the service at any time.
  • You may contact us regarding questions about your data.

9. Children’s privacy

MalScan is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to use online services independently.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
